In Transmitting Voices, Algerian and Swiss musicians jointly create new listening experiences from different voices and backgrounds for the next Polyfon Festival Basel www.polyfon.ch

For this years edition the Festival invited the Basel-based artist Leila Moon and the Algerian artist cultural worker Réda Mehenni (El Moutanakil Projects) together with six other musicians (see below) to collaboratively create new melodies and rhythms. Within the restraints of 2020 the selected group of extraordinary musicians exchanged their approach to sound, persistently creating new music. The participants worked with electronic music, jazz as well as northern African music and composed two songs oscillating between popular music and soundscapes. The two first tracks of Transmitting Voices are now available here on Bandcamp.

Transmitting Voices will be presented at the upcoming Polyfon Festival Basel, taking place from the 12th to the 14th of August 2021.
